I am a special forest, I have a great ally, my older brother, the Mediterranean forest, with whom I share tree species such as holm oak and cork oak but they are a particular ecosystem because my mission is to have a balance between the forest and an area of pasture for cattle.
The dehesa is of great economic and ecological importance. It helps the rural population and preserves a large ecosystem with a great diversity of fauna and flora, many of them protected or in danger of extinction.
I am an open forest where humans and livestock take advantage of grass, firewood and sometimes cork, mushrooms and charcoal from coal bunkers.
